Agrochemicals

Agrochemicals have been our “bread and butter” since our establishment in 1983. We supply our customers with a specialised service which includes field inspections and advice on the use of these products for crop production. We cover all crop situations and give good advice to our customers. In return for this, our customers buy their agrochemical supplies from us. This relationship has underpinned our business since our beginning in 1983. There is no compulsion involved, unlike with other suppliers. Neither is there any compliment involved from either side.

For the last 35 years, multinational giants have been launching powerful new agrochemical products on the market. Environmental laws have tightened up and cost of launching a new chemical on the market has sky-rocketed.

Thus, we have a different scenario. These multi-national companies have now diverted a lot of their spending from chemical research and development. Instead, they have invested heavily in seed companies and genetic engineering.

This means that what we have to look forward to in the future is fewer new chemicals and withdrawal from the market of old reliable products due to tougher legislation at E.U. level. As of now, we are locked out of the G.M. seed area so we need to be very careful in the use of the chemicals currently available.

Our aim is to avoid abuse of agrochemicals. We give good advice to our customers about the ethical and efficient use of these valuable products. We put a lot of effort into staying up to date with any new developments so that we can pass this on to our customers. It will be very costly not to take notice of new laws and regulations.

We are members of FARM (Federation of Agrochemical Retail Merchants). The main use of this organisation is to liaise with authorities on new legislation developments so that the voice of our customers is at least heard and that practical problems are passed back before laws are put into practise.

We are founder members of the Crop Protection Specialists Association (CPSA). CPSA is a group of like-minded companies covering the tillage areas of the country. We all specialise in crop production. CPSA gives us buying power to compete in the marketplace. We supply at least 20% of the agrochemical market.

Even more important, CPSA gives us access to a great depth of shared experience which is unrivalled in the Irish market. As a group, we invest in accessing up-to-the-minute information which is invaluable in today’s changing world. Sharing of information within CPSA leads to better advice to our customers. This is the basis of our busines : - Get the right information early and use it well.

It goes without saying that all our chemicals are from reputable, fully approved sources. This cannot be taken for granted in today’s marketplace. It is more important now than ever before.
